Access-a-Ride Reform Group, Disability Justice, Media Coverage, News

The work of Director of Disability Justice Ruth Lowenkron and Access-A-Ride Campaign Coordinator and Organizer Eman Rimawi with the Access-A-Ride Reform Group (AARRG!) was recently profiled in New York Community Trust’s (NYCT) Annual Report. AARRG! was started in 2016 with a grant from NYCT after multiple complaints about Access-A-Ride (AAR), New York City’s paratransit system. AAR riders were required to book 24 hours in advance and were regularly experiencing excessive lateness, no-shows, and ridiculously circuitous routes. Since its formation, AARRG! has led the charge in creating an on-demand pilot program and is continuing to advocate for equity in public transportation.
