NYLPI Senior Attorney for Environmental Justice Christine Appah attended Mayor de Blasio’s “Green New Deal” press conference today, announcing the 2019 OneNYC Report.

The mayor’s press release is here. Christine was appointed to the mayor’s OneNYC advisory board in early March, and advised on the report.

The Green New Deal aspect of the plan is comprised of $14 billion in new and committed investments, legislation and concrete action at the City level that will ensure a nearly 30 percent additional reduction in emissions by 2030.

The laws and investments of New York City’s Green New Deal will directly confront income inequality, generating tens of thousands of good-paying jobs retrofitting buildings and expanding renewable energy.

“OneNYC 2019 is an innovative move towards ensuring an equitable and sustainable future for New York City.   I appreciate its attention to our urban environment and encourage the development of strategies that will protect the most vulnerable communities in our City. We must continue to work together to ensure that its approach remains inclusive for all New Yorkers for generations to come,” said Christine Appah, NY Lawyers for the Public Interest, OneNYC Advisory Board Member.
