NYLPI Disability Justice Staff Testifies at City Council

NYLPI Director of Disability Justice Ruth Lowenkron recently testified before the City Council, addressing the importance of transportation access for New Yorkers with disabilities. Ruth’s testimony supported the establishment of an Office of Inclusion to effectively address the needs of New Yorkers based on disability and race, and the intersection of disability and race. Meanwhile NYLPI Data Management Coordinator and Disability Justice Advocate Jenny Veloz testified before City Council, addressing shelter accommodations and services for New Yorkers with disabilities. Jenny brought to light the negative impact inaccessible shelters and housing have had on families when a member of the family has a disability. Read the full testimony here.
