Coronavirus, Disability Justice, News, Press Release

New York Lawyers for the Public Interest joined fellow disability justice advocates Disability Rights New York and the Bazelon Center for Mental Health Law in a strongly-worded letter to Governor Cuomo to protect patients and employees in psychiatric hospitals from COVID-19 infection.  The governor must not only employ appropriate COVID-19 protective measures, but he must limit new admissions, discharge patients for whom inpatient care is not essential, provide emergency funding for treatment and testing, and provide additional community housing options to enable individuals to be released and diverted from psychiatric centers.
