Access-A-Ride vehicle in New York

As part of its ongoing efforts to negotiate a settlement that will allow persons with disabilities who use Access-A-Ride (AAR) to use New York City’s “Fair Fares” half-price program for indigent New Yorkers, New York Lawyers for the Public Interest, together with co-counsel Mobilization for Justice, submitted comments to the New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA) supporting HRA’s proposed rule change making Fair Fares available to indigent paratransit riders. NYLPI’s testimony emphasizes that the proposed rule change appropriately extends the Fair Fares discount to AAR riders “in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local law.” The law firm of Jenner & Block generously provides pro bono assistance with the underlying advocacy effort.
