NYPLI Access-A-Ride Campaign Coordinator and Organizer Eman Rimawi has been invited to join New York City Transit’s new Advisory Committee on Transit Accessibility (ACTA).

Eman was selected from dozens of qualified and passionate individuals to join the committee, along with a dynamic group of 17 others who will represent the disability community by advising NYCT on key accessibility projects and issues.

The first ACTA meeting will be held on June 19, to discuss accessibility issues, as well as be a formal meet and greet between the committee members and the NYCT Systemwide Accessibility team and other key NYCT staff working on accessibility issues.

The City will present a high-level overview of projects it is currently working on to create a baseline for discussion.

“I’m delighted to be selected to sit on the committee,” Eman said. “Of course, I’ll use the opportunity to forcefully advocate for people with disabilities, as always.”
